Born in Compton and raised in Lakewood, California (Artesia High), an Arizona State star drafted third by Oklahoma City in 2009; 2018 MVP in Houston, then Brooklyn, Philadelphia and the Clippers before a February 2026 trade to Cleveland, where he re-signed for three years that September. As much a restaurant owner as a diner: his Midtown Houston restaurant Thirteen opened in 2021, closed, reopened in 2024 and was locked out by its landlord in 2025 over $2.2 million in unpaid rent. He is a partial owner of the Toca Madera group and an investor in a Scottsdale sandwich shop, and his cheat meal is Chick-fil-A nuggets or a spicy chicken sandwich. Houston's Turkey Leg Hut, where he and P.J. Tucker ate straight out of the 2020 bubble, has since closed.
