Bizen, Okayama, native who won three straight Triple Crowns and Sawamura Awards with the Orix Buffaloes, signed with the Dodgers in 2024 and was the 2025 World Series MVP. Back home his favorite spot in Bizen is the 24-hour diner Ōsakaya, where he orders the yakiniku set, and the owner of a Bizen dumpling shop says he once put away 50 or 60. In Los Angeles he is a Matsuhisa regular with Shohei Ohtani and Roki Sasaki, and in August 2026 he went for yakitori at Torigoya in Little Tokyo with golfer Shigeki Maruyama.
